Em 10 Maio de 2007 – Secretário da Defesa Robert M. Gates queria mais rapidez na entrega dos Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles para as tropas no Iraque:
“Our experience is that Marines in these vehicles have been four or five times safer than a Marine in an armored Humvee”
Em Maio de 2007 o Senador Biden, agora vice-presidente dos EU, disse no Senado americano:
"Fast Facts about MRAP:
– MRAPS can hold four to twelve people provide 4 to 5 times more protection than an up-armored humvee.
– MRAPS have raised steel V-shaped hulls and chasses. The raised hull gives the blast more time to expand, lessening its impact on those inside the vehicle. The V-shape also pushes the blast up the sides of the vehicle, away from the occupants.
– With a humvee, the flat bottom sends the blast through the floor and right into the occupants.
– MRAPS have side armor and bulletproof glass, as well as tires that can be driven when flat.
– MRAPS are proven to reduce casualties from road-side bombs (the most lethal weapon used against our troops in Iraq) by sixty-seven to eighty percent."

Relatório oficial das FA americanas ao Congresso (Março de 2008, página 23):
“Increasing the protection of Coalition forces is a top priority, and the fielding of the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle is one response to the threat. As of January 24, 2008, U.S. and Coalition forces have received 1,725 vehicles, representing 14% of authorized MRAPs and a 98% increase in little more than two months. The MRAP has demonstrated that it is much better than other wheeled vehicles in protecting troops from the effects of IEDs, and the newest of the MRAPs has sustained enormous explosions without any breach of the personnel compartment”.
O comandante das forças especiais britânicas (SAS) no Afeganistão Sebastian Morley apresentou a sua demissão porque na sua opinião houve "negligência" do Governo e do Ministério da Defesa, já que não tiveram em conta as suas advertências sobre a falta de segurança dos britânicos projectados para esse país, pelo que não se pôde evitar várias baixas. Segundo o diário Daily Telegraph, Morley advertiu em repetidas ocasiões de que haveria mortos se as tropas continuassem a ser transportadas nos vulneráveis veículos Snatch da marca Land Rover.
Finalmente o MoD britânico decidiu por fim substituir os Snatch da marca Land Rover com um programa de renovação de veículos pelo valor de 700 milhões de ₤…qual é o balanço em vidas humanas? De militares?Mas há mais…
Em Julho de 2007 seis pára-quedistas espanhóis, Jeyson Alejandro Castaño, Jonathan Galea, Manuel David Portas, Yhon Edisson Posada, Jefferson Vargas e Juan Carlos Víllora morreram quando explodiu um carro bomba próximo da BMR na aldeia de Sahel al Derdara (Líbano). A BMR ficou destruída, principalmente o compartimento do pessoal.
Em 9 de Novembro de 2008 o soldado Juan Andrés Suárez García e o primeiro cabo Rubén Alonso Ríos perderam a vida num ataque contra a sua BMR na zona de Shindand en Afganistán por um carro bomba com 35 quilos de explosivos que explodiu a seis metros de distância.
